US Open 2014 Round Two Style Highlights
Posted at June 14, 2014
Martin Kaymer continues his dominance at the US Open and here is a selection of our favourite outfits from Round Two on Friday.
The US Open at Pinehurst has really been about one man thus far as Martin Kaymer posted another exceptional five under par 65 to lead the championship by six strokes. His (-10) score after 36 holes ties the largest lead at the halfway stage - held by both Tiger Woods (2000) and Rory McIlroy (2011) who each went on to win comfortably by fifteen and eight strokes respectively.
It truly has been a sensational week so far for Martin Kaymer and we really hope he can maintain his commanding lead over the chasing pack over the weekend. The Hugo Boss star confirmed his re-emergence back in May by winning the Players Championship at Sawgrass and it looks highly likely that he could follow up that huge victory with another, perhaps even more convincing win here at Pinehurst!
With Kaymer leading in such extraordinary fashion, it would be difficult to pinpoint where a challenge might come from over the weekend. Henrik Stenson is one such possibility, currently sitting at (-2) for the championship after two solid rounds of 69. Wearing the Paddy Pro 2, Stenson and Martin Kaymer are certainly giving Hugo Boss a great deal of exposure this season and we can't wait to see them in the new Fall range for 2014!
Erik Compton is another Hugo Boss star well in the mix at Pinehurst, posting a second round of 68 to haul himself back to level par for the tournament. Compton wore the same shirt as Henrik Stenson in white and it would be very nice to see Erik finish strongly this week, having recovered from two heart transplants over the course of his career!
Rounding off the Hugo Boss ambassadors, Scott Langley was looking great wearing the brand new classic green Paddy Pro from the Fall 2014 collection and has also made the cut at three over par. Scott Langley is a brand new Boss Tour golfer and we think he is a perfect choice of young, emerging American to wear the brand!
Rickie Fowler wore another shirt from the Autumn/Winter 2014 Puma Golf collection on Friday and it is certainly one of our favourite styles from the latest range, which will be available in early July. Rickie is still going strong around Pinehurst, too, currently sitting at level par after two solid rounds of golf.
Graham DeLaet didn't enjoy the fortunes of Rickie Fowler, however. He missed the US Open cut but still looked great wearing another of the latest Puma Golf shirts for Autumn/Winter 2014.
Bubba Watson, the Masters 2014 champion, could not mount any sort of challenge for the US Open at Pinehurst. Wearing the pink dust colour way from Oakley to match his pink driver, Bubba posted a level par 70 second round but that was not quite enough to counteract the 76 of Thursday, resulting in a missed cut.
And finally a special mention for Dustin Johnson and his Adidas outfit from Friday. DJ often receives a lot of stick for his neutral and unexciting outfits but we loved this blue number from his second round!
