Team GP Customer Challenge: Carnoustie

In a new initiative launched by Golfposer, we are giving our customers the chance to challenge our team to a round of Match Play golf! The Team GP Customer Challenge is open for anyone based in Scotland to request a match against two members of the team here at Golfposer. The rules are simple: You pay for signing Team GP onto your home course and if you manage to beat us over 18 holes, each challenger will receive a £25 voucher to spend online!

The inaugural Team GP Challenge match took place at Carnoustie. A great setting saw two of the club members, Andrew Fyfe (previous Club Champion & Tassie holder) play alongside Gary Williamson (student & Carnoustie caddie during summer) up against Team GP which consisted of Andy Coulter & Ross Ewen.

THE CARNOUSTIE CHALLENGERS - Andrew Fyfe & Gary Williamson

TEAM GP - Andy Coulter & Ross Ewen

Team GP started off the proceedings very poorly at Carnoustie having only played the Championship course once between them, with the challengers racing into a 3 Up lead after birdies on two out of the first three holes. It certainly wasn't looking promising after GP's Andy Coulter found a horrendous lie in the bunker early doors and declared a time out and a much needed team talk!

The talk seemed to work and a birdie at the fourth allowed team GP to hit back immediately. With the tie very much back on GP also won the iconic sixth hole - 'Hogan's Alley'. The Golfposer boys then hit birdie on the 10th hole which resulted in a net eagle and brought the match to all square, Ross Ewen can be seen here giving his ball a right good skelp' during the round as the pendulum swung in favour of Team GP!

After the excitement of squaring the match there was a much needed restroom break for Team GP to sort their outfits out in the mirror whilst showing off their lightweight bags during the first GP Customer Challenge Match.

Golfposer's joy was short lived as the Carnoustie boys hit straight back and went to one up following another birdie. Gary Williamson can be seen here using all his course knowledge to keep Team GP at bay!

There wasn't much in the game as the match reached the iconic 14th hole - Spectacles. Team GP were one down.

Golfposer's Andy Coulter is seen here checking out the iconic bunkers on 14 and wishing he had hit a better second shot after a booming tee shot!

The Carnoustie boys won the 14th with a great putt and with confidence soaring, Andrew Fyfe (+2 handicapper) started showing off by hitting his tee shots one handed...

The match was then back to one as Team GP made birdie on 17 and, after some fairway splitting drives, needed a birdie down the last but it didn't quite happen for Golfposer. The Carnoustie boys ended up securing a well deserved 'one up' victory and, even in defeat, Golfposer loved every minute of it. Andy Coulter is seen here playing his last shot into 18 with the Carnoustie Hotel in the background.

Please get in touch with the team at Golfposer if you would like to challenge us to a match at your home course. The only catch is for you to cover the green fee costs and should you win, you will receive £25 each to spend on!
