PGA Championship 2014 - Thursday Outfits
Posted at August 8, 2014
After round one of the PGA Championship, there was a three-way lead with Palmer, Westwood and Chappell leading with some big names hunting down their lead! Here is our style experts' picks of what was worn on Thursday at Valhalla.
Rory McIlroy: Nike
We all know how well Rory is playing at the moment and he even managed to steal the show on Thursday without posting a leading score - thanks to his run of four straight birdies after a DB/B at the 10th/11th. Ending just one shot off the lead at (-5), McIlroy remains hot favourite and was wearing the Nike Lightweight Innovation shirt for his first round yesterday.
Kevin Chappell: Nike
Nike are enjoying a great time of it at the moment with Rory McIlroy providing the goods on the course and Tiger Woods orchestrating the media ensemble off it - but there was an extra boost yesterday as Kevin Chappell stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a bogey-free round of 65, six under par.
Cobra Puma Golf Team
Cobra Puma Golf certainly cannot complain with how well their players are shaping up at the PGA Championship. Ian Poulter leads the team on (-3), whilst Major expert Rickie Fowler sits one behind alongside Graham DeLaet. Jonas Blixt is further back at level par, whilst Will MacKenzie is the only one to buck the trend and sits at (+5) - which is a shame considering he probably wins the Puma style battle! Or, was that John Daly?
Miguel Ángel Jiménez: Nebuloni
Mr. Rioja himself was also looking the part in pink trews, matched with a fresh white shirt. He rolls back the years with his golf but also with his style too!
Billy Horschel/Matteo Manassero: RLX
Stripes are a big part of any RLX Ralph Lauren golf collection and both Billy Horschel and Matteo Manassero wore such prints at Valhalla yesterday. Pink for Billy, Green/Navy for Matteo - level par and nine over respectively.
Hugo Boss: Kaymer/Stenson/Ilonen
Martin Kaymer looked the part on the course yesterday and was wearing the brand new Paddy MK 1 shirt in Poinciana orange - one which has already sold out in Parachute Purple - whilst fellow Boss brand ambassadors Henrik Stenson and Mikko Ilonen stuck with two outfits from the Summer collection. It would appear Mikko even took note of Professor Gee's style advice from a few months ago! This trio are all playing solid golf at the moment and we would love to see a winner on Sunday who wears Hugo Boss!
