Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup - 2016

Team GP were recently invited to play in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup - the exciting series of amateur events hosted around the world.
Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup - Amateur Series
Every golfer should already know of the association between Turkish Airlines and golf as a sport; the Turkish Airlines Open has been a key event on the European Tour calendar since its inception in 2013. This novel amateur series "World Golf Cup" was created in 2014 and has since gone from strength to strength, now hosting 100 events across 61 countries in which Turkish Airlines operate. The beauty of this competition is that any amateur golfer can apply and, should they be successful, has the opportunity to play and compete on one of the best golf courses in the world. For example, the 2014 Ryder Cup course at Gleneagles was the chosen venue for Edinburgh, Scotland - whilst the former Italian Open venue Royal Park i Roveri was the penultimate destination for the series in Turin, Italy.

Having been unavailable to play at Gleneagles on the date of the competition, team GP were henceforth invited to Turin (locally, Torino) in Italy to play in the Amateur Series for the first time. The prize on offer for each of the 100 individual victors would be a luxury trip to play in the Grand Final in Belek - accompanied by Business Class flights via Turkish Airlines, an eight night all-inclusive stay at the Titanic Deluxe Belek Resort and tickets to watch the TA Open in November. Impressive, to say the least...
All round, the event was incredibly professional and thoroughly enjoyable for every one involved. A warm welcome upon registration, a selection of TA branded gifts, breakfast and practice balls were offered - followed by the competition itself and an awards dinner in the evening. A great experience and one which comes highly recommended for those of you wishing to compete in future Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup events.

There was no cherry-on-top for team GP this time around, but the Turkish Airlines Open will certainly prove a joy to watch on the television next month. The prestigious Carya Golf Club will replace the Montgomerie Maxx Royale as the host this season, with some key names including Rory McIlroy attracted to play once again. Previous winners include Victor Dubuisson (2013, 2015) and Brooks Koepka (2014) - whilst the TA Open also welcomed Tiger Woods for the inaugural event, finishing T3.
Our thanks to the team at Turkish Airlines for this wonderful opportunity and we look forward to an involvement with future Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup events in the UK and beyond!
