TomTom Golfer 2 - New Technology Updates
Posted at August 16, 2016
As of 17/08 - there is a new TomTom update available via synchronising your device with your laptop. Two new features: disable shot vibration & cancel stroke.
We explain the key differences between the TomTom Golfer 2 GPS watch and the previous models from seasons past, designed to improve your game more than ever before.
TomTom Golfer 2 - Automatic Shot Detection
The most important technical difference with the TomTom Golfer 2 is the capability to detect your strokes automatically with the in-built accelerometer, meaning that you don't have to manually keep track of every shot. The watch has a vibrating function which will trigger every time that a shot has been detected to leave you with no doubt. This newly added feature allows you to track your round accurately and will ultimately provide you with an overview of how your game shapes up; shot patterns, greens/fairways in regulation and distances are all logged for future analysis with the MySports App.
Two potential pitfalls of the Automatic Shot Detection have also been addressed. The user has the capability to manually enter the putt count after every hole, with the watch even vibrating once as you walk to the next tee as a timely reminder (this can also be disabled with a software update). No problem if you forget, simply update your stats post-round via the MySports app on your laptop or mobile device.
The second pitfall is the recording of practice swings as an actual stroke in-play. This problem has been eradicated, however, with only one shot ever being recorded within a 3 metre radius. Just don't take your practice swings too far away from where your ball has landed!
TomTom Golfer 2 - New Design
The next big change is with the aesthetics of the watch itself. An updated strap now hides away the individual size notches for a much more clean, contemporary and sports-like look - whilst the three fold clasp offers a true watch-like feel. The face is slimmer and longer for a less bulky feel without compromising on the size of the scratch-resistant display for easy viewing. The same four toggle button is positioned beneath for ease of use; one of the key details which users loved with the previous model.
TomTom Golfer 2 - Added Features
An additional new feature which enhances the overall user experience appears when the device is in use on the golf course. Previous models provided a distance to course hazards away from the green, which is a great idea, however feedback suggested that reach and carry distances of said hazards were also necessary. With the TomTom Golfer 2 - simply cover the face of the display with your palm when viewing these hazards and hey, presto! These additional yardages are provided. This same movement can be used to add a stroke to your round and a new TomTom update means you can also cancel this shot off your round - if added by accident.
TomTom Golfer 2 - GPS Fundamentals
The same GPS fundamentals are, of course, still present. Distances to the front, middle and back of the green is offered with detailed hazard information also available, whilst yardages to lay up points are available with a single click upwards. Using the toggle button will also bring up other features such as time of round, distance walked, duration of round and the standard clock.
All in all, we love the TomTom Golfer 2 GPS watch and the updates are certain to provide exceptional insight into how to improve your game. It's quick, accurate and convenient with so much post-round data available for analysis, whilst the look and feel is super premium with both grey and black options available.
