Rickie Fowler Announced for Scottish Open

The AAM Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen looks set to be a real spectacle to behold as Rickie Fowler joins an all-star line up!
Last year, Phil Mickelson played the links course at Castle Stuart for the 2013 Scottish Open before proceeding to triumph at the Open Championship the immediate week after, with a 'comfortable' three stroke victory over Henrik Stenson. It is no coincidence, then, that many of the biggest names in golf have already announced their participation at the notorious Balgownie Links at Royal Aberdeen this year - with big Phil having proven that winning the tournaments back-to-back is very much possible.
Puma Golf star Rickie Fowler is the latest American to confirm his attendance and the Californian will line up alongside fellow brand ambassador Jonas Blixt to give Puma a big presence at the event, with Ian Poulter a certainty too. BMW PGA Champion Rory McIlroy joins Henrik Stenson, Thomas Björn and Phil Mickelson to further bolster the line-up, whilst the English trio of Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Ian Poulter always have a strong following wherever they play. Other Americans taking on the Royal Aberdeen links course include Jimmy Walker - a three time victor on the PGA Tour this season, Ryan Palmer, Matt Every and also Kevin Streelman.
Always directly preceeding the Open Championship, the Scottish Open has not always been able to attract the biggest stars of the game. This was largely due to the common preconception that back-to-back tournament wins were incredibly rare - but with Phil Mickelson proving that myth wrong last season in some style, the AAM Scottish Open can only benefit from having 23 of the current top 60 players in the world gracing the home of golf in 2014. We certainly wouldn't bet against that number increasing in the coming weeks, either!
The Scottish Open takes place on the Balgownie Links course at Royal Aberdeen over the 10th to the 13th of July, 2014.
