Nike Golf - Is Rory finally back?

Is Rory McIlroy Back on Form?
Rory McIlroy's impressive showing this weekend (especially the first three days) certainly made everyone ask the question, is Rory back? Ultimately losing in a four way play-off to the eventual winner Russell Henley, the major winner from Holywood seems to be closing in on top form again with some very special shots indeed. The 2014 Masters is only next month, so all the pros are treating the next few weeks as preparation. After a disappointing loss this weekend, Rory will no doubt be gathering his thoughts and reassessing why he dropped so many shots on the back nine. Surely he will concentrate on fine tuning his mental game in time for April 11th – the opening round of the Masters.
Rory’s performance showed glimpses of excellence as it seems that he’s finally getting on with his Nike clubs (which have caused so much debate since moving from Titleist). If you remember, Rory’s current sponsorship deal with Nike is worth around $10million a year and there was so much expected from Rory in 2013, although he only won one competition – the Emirates Australian Open in December. On the evidence so far though, 2014 promises to be a different story for the Northern Irishman.
Rory McIlroy has been working hard in the off season and has the physique to prove it, even Nick Faldo has been complementary of Rory’s new look - Faldo’s words were “chiselled”; Jack Nicklaus commented on Rory’s performance at The Honda Classic - “it’s the best I’ve seen him hit for a while, his short game has been phenomenal”. Just to echo the great Jack Nicklaus - apart from the last few holes - where nerves may have gotten the better of Rory, his swing still looked solid and very, very smooth. His bunker play was generally well controlled too, so the hard work is clearly paying dividends for his all round game. Golfposer see Rory winning big this year and we look forward to tracking his performance on the GP blog.
On the final day at the PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Rory was wearing Nike Modern Tech Trousers in white and the Key Iconic polo shirt in blue. He was also wearing the new Nike Lunar Control II golf shoes which have a number of improvements over the original Lunar Control shoes.
