Lucas Bjerregaard - Galvin Green Player Profile

Lucas Bjerregaard is making quite the name for himself on the European Tour with some fine form on the big stage. But how much do you really know about him?

Lucas Bjerregaard - European Tour

Leader of the Italian Open after rounds one and two; leader of the Hong Kong Open after round three. Lucas Bjerregaard may not yet have a European Tour victory to his name - but that could well change over the course of the coming weekend with a three-stroke lead after round two of the penultimate Final Series event, the BMW Masters in Shanghai.

The 72nd Open d'Italia in September resulted in a tie for third - just one stroke off the lead - whilst a final day showdown in Hong Kong was again lost by a single stroke to the formidable Justin Rose. Further top ten finishes at the Porsche European Open and the Portugal Masters have also come in the last two months; a recent stat from the European Tour showed that the Dane is 47 under par for his last thirteen rounds. That's some fine form right there.

Lucas Bjerregaard - Profile

At just 24 years of age, Lucas Bjerregaard is another of the young Nordic breed and adds to the growing list of Danish professional golfers making a name for themselves on the European Tour. An impressive career as an amateur preceded three years on the Nordic Golf league, where he also won the order of merit in 2012, before a testing year on the European Challenge tour in 2013. Successfully negotiating Q-School, Bjerregaard achieved his first official European Tour card for 2014 and finished 90th on the Race to Dubai.

Slowly rising through the tiers at a time when European golf is more competitive than ever, Lucas Bjerregaard's determination, desire and continued improvement is to be admired. Now gunning to become the first from his country to win a major title, Bjerregaard has made three major championship starts to date and enjoyed an impressive debut showing at the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst - finishing in a tie for 40th.

Close friends with the likes of Soren Kjeldsen and Morten Orum Madsen, the 6'3" Bjerregaard lists weightlifting as a key interest away from golf and is one of the biggest hitters on tour as a result. Not much else is known about his life away from the course, which is to be expected, though we do know that he has a pretty cool dog. Oh, and he's not the most skilled at barbecueing either (see video above).

Lucas Bjerregaard - Wears Galvin Green

Lucas Bjerregaard has worn the famous Swedish brand Galvin Green on tour for many years, officially extending their strong partnership last season. As one of the most reputable technical golf wear brands in the game, Galvin Green are notoriously selective when it comes to their endorsements and so if Galvin have put their mighty weight behind him - then Lucas Bjerregaard is certainly one to watch in the coming months and years, if not this weekend in Shanghai.
