Galvin Green S/S12

With the weather forecast for the opening day at Augusta looking incredibly wet and thundery - we thought to focus on the brand best known for waterproofs in golf, Galvin Green!

Galvin Green S/S12

The first day of the Masters tournament 2012 is set to be a wet occasion, with the storm that wreaked havoc in Texas this past week passing through Augusta in Georgia. The temperature is still expected to remain in the twenties though - so Peter Hanson will no doubt throw on his award-winning Galvin Green waterproofs which are intelligently engineered to be breathable yet waterproof at the same time!

Per each square centimetre of waterproof fabric, there are 1.4 billion microscopic pores which are 20,000x smaller than a water droplet - yet 700x larger than a water vapour molecule. This incredible technology allows you to keep dry yet comfortable inside simultaneously - and the technology doesn't stop there! There is a whole host of additional features incorporated into many of the waterproof jackets we have available. There are adjustment features such as waist cords, chest fasteners, neck tabs and also wrist fasteners. The wrist cuffs are also cleverly designed to fold upwards - creating a water gutter to ensure your glove and grip stay as dry as possible at address!

Below is an example of how to turn up your cuffs to create the water guttering effect!

Galvin Green Gore-Tex waterproofs are designed by golfers, for golfers. For this reason - there is plenty of clever technology invisible to the untrained eye such as abrasion resistent fabric panels on the shoulders and lower back to avoid wear and tear from using carry-bags! Not a lot of users notice that the back of the jacket is actually slightly longer to keep you dry at address too! Water repellent zips are used for all zips and pockets, whilst the some pockets themselves are intelligently positioned to avoid interfering with your swing - often found on the chest or lower back!

The Gore-Tex fabric itself also has a little stretch to allow for the greatest freedom of movement possible - and we all know how difficult it is to keep our jackets spotlessly clean (especially in Scotland!) so it is perfectly fine to wash your waterproofs at 30 degrees. In fact, it is actually encouraged to tumble dry your waterproof garments (without softeners) as this rejuvenates the fabric to become as good as new!

Galvin Green Paclite Jackets

Galvin Green waterproof jackets and pants come in two different style, though not many people know the difference between the two! The first is called the Paclite shell. This is a very golf specific jacket and is a one-layer outer shell that is designed to be lightweight and worn over your outfit or packed neatly away in your golf bag after use. The second fabric type is what is known as the Performance Shell. The difference here is on the inside of the fabric - there is a lining to give the jacket a little bit more weight and warmth. Performance shell jackets are the recommended option if you think you may wear your jacket regularly outwith the golf!

All of this technology adds to the value of Galvin Green waterproofs, but the biggest advantage is the LIFETIME WATERPROOF GUARANTEE that they each come with! Every customer that visited our Galvin Green stall at the Scottish Golf Show last weekend (who already had a set of waterproofs) said it was the best golfing purchase they have ever made - need we say more?

The video above explains further the Galvin Green layering concept. Make sure you check back tomorrow to find our next feature on brand new Galvin Green Polo Shirts which are included in the layering concept and brand new Galvin Green S/S12 Golf Trousers!
